Welcome to Beating Bile Duct Cancer.
On August 4th, 2020, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 (now stage 4), inoperable, intrahepatic, Bile Duct Cancer, also known as Cholangiocarcinoma. I was also informed that the focus would be on “quality of life”. My life, as I knew it, fell apart right then. Maybe the doctor didn’t want to overload me that afternoon but I was told nothing about this rare cancer and simply sent home with an information leaflet.
Naturally, I wanted, well, needed, to know as much as possible about bile duct cancer and spent hours searching the internet for anything and everything. It all made for rather dismal reading and left me feeling fearful for my future. From what I read, I’d be lucky to make 6 months. This just didn’t work for me.
I decided to focus on how the cancer was affecting ME, not the statistics I was reading
What I really longed for, was to connect with other people who were also going through this or those who had survived their diagnosis. A place where I could read about their experiences or talk to them and hear about their journeys. Unfortunately, there was very little, if anything.
And so, this website was born.
That was now 13 months ago, and what a journey it has been so far. I have learned so much about bile duct cancer, cancer in general, how nutrition and supplements can help support your health, maximise your treatment, and even target and kill cancer cells. I have been able to connect to many wonderful and inspiring people around the world who are either living with this diagnosis or caring for a loved one. I have looked into the power of the mind and stress reduction, both so important when living with cancer. I’ve been able to access alternative therapies and have had additional support with other specialists. I have even been lucky enough to tell my story in the media, which has connected me to some amazing organisations out there, helping all of us living with bile duct cancer.
It’s really important to me that this website gives you some hope when living with bile duct cancer. There are so many ups and downs but you will find a new “normal”. Right now, 13 months on, I am feeling really well. I have never taken so much care of myself….and I am absolutely loving it!
I eat healthy, exercise, meditate, found a real interest and love of natural skin care products, and have even learned to finally know my self-worth.
If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, please please know that there really IS hope.
